Working with the subconscious mind.
Focused attention, not "going under"
Hypnotherapy is the clinical application of hypnosis — a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility that allows direct communication with the subconscious mind. The term itself was coined by James Braid in 1841, and while the popular imagination still associates hypnosis with stage tricks and loss of control, the reality is far more grounded.
In a therapeutic setting, hypnosis is simply a tool. It creates a window of receptivity in which habitual thought patterns, emotional responses, and deeply held beliefs become accessible and, with skilled guidance, open to change. You are not unconscious. You are not surrendering control. You are entering a state of calm, concentrated awareness — not unlike the absorption you feel when deeply engaged in a task or lost in thought.
What makes hypnotherapy effective is its ability to work below the surface. The patterns that drive anxiety, habits, phobias, and self-limiting behaviour are often rooted in the subconscious, and the subconscious does not respond well to reasoning. It responds to experience, imagery, and suggestion — the language hypnotherapy speaks.
Areas of support
Hypnotherapy is not a cure, and no responsible practitioner would claim it as one. It is a complementary approach that may support progress in areas where conscious effort alone has not been enough. Clients commonly seek hypnotherapy for:
- Anxiety and stress management
- Phobias and irrational fears
- Smoking cessation
- Sleep difficulties and insomnia
- Performance — sport, creative, professional
- Unwanted behavioural patterns and habits
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Exam and interview preparation
This is not an exhaustive list. If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for your situation, the discovery call is a good place to ask.
Shorter sessions, often in a series
Unlike Lana's regression and Quantum Consciousness sessions, which run three to four hours, hypnotherapy sessions are 60–90 minutes. The work is typically structured as a series of three to six sessions, depending on the nature and depth of what you are working with.
The first session includes an extended consultation where Lana learns about your situation, your goals, and your history with the concern. Subsequent sessions build on the work done previously, reinforcing new patterns and deepening the shift. Some clients achieve what they need in fewer sessions; others continue for longer. The approach is flexible and responsive to your progress.
IACT certified, NLP trained, pragmatic
Lana is certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists (IACT) and trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Her approach to hypnotherapy is practical and goal-oriented. She does not dress the work in mystery — she explains what she is doing, why, and what you can expect at each stage.
Her NLP training informs how she works with language, anchoring, and pattern interruption. Combined with her hypnotherapy certification, this gives her a versatile toolkit for addressing the kinds of stubborn, subconscious patterns that resist conscious effort.
About Neuro-Linguistic Programming
NLP is a methodology for understanding and changing patterns of thought and behaviour. It focuses on the relationship between neurological processes ("neuro"), language ("linguistic"), and behavioural patterns learned through experience ("programming"). In practice, it provides tools for reframing beliefs, interrupting unhelpful patterns, and anchoring new responses to familiar triggers.
Lana integrates NLP techniques into her hypnotherapy sessions where appropriate. It is not a separate service — it is part of the toolkit she draws on to help you achieve your goals efficiently and sustainably.
What to expect
Frequently asked
Will I be unconscious or lose control?
No. Hypnotherapy is a state of focused attention, not unconsciousness. You remain aware throughout the session and can hear, speak, and respond. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. The popular image of hypnosis — stage shows, swinging watches — bears little resemblance to the clinical practice. It is closer to deep absorption, like being engrossed in a book.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on what you are working with. Some concerns respond well to a single session; others benefit from a series of three to six. Lana will discuss a recommended approach during your initial consultation, and you can always adjust as you go. There is no pressure to commit to a fixed number upfront.
Can hypnotherapy help with [specific issue]?
Hypnotherapy may support a wide range of concerns — from anxiety and sleep difficulties to habits and performance. It is not a medical treatment, and Lana will be honest about what falls within her scope and what might be better served by another professional. If you are unsure, the discovery call is a good place to ask.
Is this different from the other sessions Lana offers?
Yes. Hypnotherapy is more focused and goal-oriented than past life regression, LBL, or Quantum Consciousness. It works with specific behavioural patterns or concerns rather than broader existential questions. Sessions are shorter (60–90 minutes rather than three to four hours) and often run as a series. The hypnotic state used is typically lighter, and the work is more directive.
