Iridology: what the iris can reveal.

What it is

Reading the body through the eye.

Iridology is a holistic observation practice based on the premise that patterns, colours, and structural features of the iris — the coloured part of the eye — can reflect the condition of the body as a whole. It has its roots in nineteenth-century European naturopathy, with early practitioners in Hungary and Sweden developing detailed iris charts that mapped different zones of the iris to different organs and systems.

Lana uses iridology not as a diagnostic tool, but as a starting point for conversation. The iris offers a rich, highly individual landscape — and when observed closely, it can suggest areas worth paying attention to: constitutional tendencies, areas of potential weakness, and patterns that may correlate with a client's lived experience of their health. It is a way of looking at the whole person, through a remarkably detailed window.

The practice is gentle, non-invasive, and fascinating. Many clients are surprised by how much can be observed in a single session, and by how closely the observations align with what they already sense about their own bodies.

The session

What a session involves.

01

Iris photography

Lana takes high-resolution photographs of both eyes using a specialist iris camera. This is quick, painless, and non-invasive — a simple close-up photograph taken in good light.

02

Mapping and observation

Using the photographs, Lana examines the iris in detail — noting colours, fibre structures, markings, and patterns. She maps these observations against established iridology charts, building a picture of constitutional tendencies and areas of interest.

03

Conversation and guidance

The findings are shared in a detailed conversation. Lana discusses what she observes, asks about your health history and current concerns, and offers holistic guidance — often related to nutrition, lifestyle, and other practices that might support your wellbeing.

Important note

What iridology is not.

Iridology is not a medical diagnostic tool. It is not recognised by mainstream medical bodies as a valid method of clinical diagnosis, and it should not be used as a substitute for medical examination, laboratory tests, or professional medical advice.

Observations made during an iridology session are holistic and interpretive in nature. They may suggest areas worth exploring with a qualified healthcare provider, but they do not constitute a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. Lana is not a licensed medical professional.

Related

Often paired with nutrition.

Iridology and nutritional guidance are natural companions. Many of the constitutional patterns and tendencies observed through the iris relate directly to digestion, absorption, and the body's relationship with food. For this reason, Lana often combines an iridology session with a follow-up nutrition consultation — using what the iris suggests as a starting point for practical dietary and lifestyle guidance.
